Male Ferrets

Description

Male ferrets, known as hobs, are lively and social animals. Typically, they measure between 18 to 24 inches in length, including their tails, and weigh around 2 to 4 pounds, though some can reach up to 6 pounds. Hobs are known for their playful and curious nature, often engaging in activities such as tunneling, exploring, and interacting with their environment.

Physically, male ferrets have a more robust and muscular build compared to their female counterparts (jills), with a thicker neck and broader head. They exhibit a range of fur colors, including albino, sable, and cinnamon. Male ferrets are sexually mature at around 6 months and, if not neutered, can exhibit strong odors due to their active sebaceous glands.

Neutering hobs not only reduces their musky scent but also prevents aggressive behavior and health issues like adrenal disease. Proper care includes a balanced diet, regular vet check-ups, and ample opportunities for physical activity and mental stimulation to ensure their well-being.
