Baby Female Raccoons

Description

Baby Female Raccoons, known as kits, are born blind, deaf, and helpless, relying entirely on their mothers for care. A typical litter consists of 2 to 5 kits, born in the spring after a gestation period of about 63 days. At birth, kits weigh approximately 2.5 to 3.5 ounces and have a light fur coat that darkens as they grow.

Their eyes and ears open at around three weeks of age, marking the beginning of their exploration phase. By the age of eight to ten weeks, kits start venturing out of the nest, learning to climb, forage, and interact with their environment under the watchful eye of their mother. During this period, they develop the characteristic dexterity in their front paws, which they use skillfully to examine and handle food.

Baby Female Raccoons Kits are weaned by around 12 weeks but remain with their mother until the fall, learning essential survival skills. Their diet is diverse, including fruits, nuts, insects, and small animals. Baby raccoons are curious and playful, displaying a high degree of intelligence and adaptability from a young age.
